General context:
Launching TIMONE System clients
Problem that may occur:
Performing a downgrade of TIMONE System and starting later clients, these should be in error (usually having a screen completely gray) because the preferences of the later versions have been enriched with new data and are no longer compatible.using more up to date clients, may cause the clients display a grey window. This is due to the client preferences which need to be downgraded, as well.
Affected versions:
previous versions to 8.2.0
Resolved from version:
Starting from version 8.2.0 an advanced management of the client preferences which solves such problems has been introduced.
On MAC OS X < 10.9 was sufficient to eliminate , delete the folder PLAN_PRESETS (positioned in the home of the user) and the files it.tellnet.tiller.plist and it.tellnet.gem.plist (positioned located in the user Library Folder/Preferences of the user home; there can be accessed from the Finder menu -> Go -> Library [the item appears if you hold down the Option key, see attached screenshot]).
Starting Starting with MAC OS X 10.9 (Mavericks) was implemented a caching mechanism of preferences which negates prevents the cancellation deletion of the plist filefiles; in order to obviate overcome this drawback it is necessary to perform execute the following Terminal commands with clients and closed prior to deleting the plist file. Please make sure the TIMONE System clients are not running before executing the commands below:
Section |
---|
$ defaults delete it.tellnet.timone $ defaults delete it.tellnet.gemma |
Subsequent to After the execution of the commands you can proceed to the cancellation of the plist file and the start up of the client, which will restore the default preference.Starting from version 8.2.0 is provided an advanced management of the preferences that will avoid problems in downgrade, however this procedure remains valid for versions released until todayit's possible to delete the plist files and then run a TIMONE System client which will create the default preferences.
