The creation of a new Editorial service is a feature exclusive to the role of Graphic Designerallows the management of the entire cycle of the workflow of Peppers through the webApp and InDesign.


The features available with the component Peppers of InDesign are made evident from the menu that is installed, in which the individual items are activated according to the status of documents, with the exception of the heading Preferences that is always active.

The management of the menu Peppers and contextual menu Processing allows to you to offer the user the options necessary for its integration with Peppers.

The activation of the elements depends on the status of the document (for the menu items), which is detected at the opening and stored in the label of the document. The voice of Processing contextual menu activates when the selection is formed from one or more images: not active at the moment, on a group(even if the format of images only).

Graphic Designer - InDesign

The previous step to the jobs assignment and to all the editorial workflow is to connect the editorial to Peppers.

To create a service that is not yet available in the Peppers the Graphic Designer has to:

    • Create a new InDesign Layout;

    • Save the new layout
  •  in SCE or K4
    •  in the Editorial System;
    • Re-Open the InDesign Layout by

  • SCE or K4 Palet
    • the Editorial System Palet;

    • Click on Peppers > Peppers connection to editorial or on the second button on the right;

    • A message appears that asks you to confirm the operation;

    • If the document belongs to a Publication/Issue that is not yet present in Peppers, opens a

  • dialog
    • dialogue box where you must identify the Issue of membership, the expiry date and the issue number of pages

It is necessary to store the document in the editorial system, immediately after the connection so as not to lose the label that has been assigned by Peppers.


1. The Graphic Designer open an InDesign Layout from Smart Connection from the Editorial System;

2. If you have not yet loaded, the Graphic Designer Loads Images by placing them in the layout;

4. Right Click  on or on the first button  on the right on an image and select Peppers Jobs;

5. Now will appear a menu from which the Graphic Designer Choose Jobs to be done, if it will be made automatically or by an external or internal Photo Editor;

The Graphic Designer can also add instructions for the Photo Editor.

6. By clicking on ok Save, if provided, will open Photoshop and the Automatic Jobs will be performed;

7. Returning to InDesign we can it's possible to see that the automatic operations have been carried out because the images will have a Green Frame;

8. Click on Peppers > Submit the Editorial to Peppers or on the third button on the right;

The Green Frame suggest that there are External jobs assigned, otherwise the Blu one that the image will be worked internally. Local or Automatic jobs have been carried out.

By reopening the workings assignment page, we can see the status of the assigned jobs. The status of the assigned jobs is represented by a colored icon next to the working itself.

The green icon indicates that job has been completed, yellow indicates that the work is to do, red indicates that it is impossible to complete the assigned job.

9. Now the editorial will be available in the Editorial List on Peppers.

 Photo Editor - Peppers / Photoshop

 

10. The Photo Editor logged on Peppers, select To Do List to see the services assigned to him;

11. Click on the service Preview, from this page you can find jobs and instruction previously defined by the Graphic Designer;

12. The Photo Editor to begin working images must click on the button Take in Load;

13. Now will appear a Download Button Image Modified  & a Link Button Image Removed, you can , it's possible to download to be worked externally or Drag the green link icon into Photoshop for images to be worked internally;

14. Open Images with Photoshop;

15. Modify Images following the instruction written instructions written by the Graphic Designer;

16. Save changes;

17. Upload ONLY Images Worked externally;

18. Transfer the Editorial to QA clicking on the appropriate button;

19. Now the Editorial will be available in Ready for Quality Check List.



Graphic Designer - Peppers / InDesign


20. The Graphic Designer re-opens the editorial in InDesign form Smart Connection

21. Click on Peppers > Move editorial to QA and consult Photo Editor's works or by clicking on the appropriate fourth button in Peppers Pallet;

22. Now the Graphic Designer clicks on the icon indicating the image relink and they will be available for Quality Check;

23. Click on Peppers > Finish's editorial's QA or by clicking on the appropriate button  fifth button in Peppers Pallet;

24A25A. Now if the images do not need further workings the Graphic Designer clicks on Approve, the Editorial Status change in Archived and the cycle is concluded.
